The Angels struck again! As students and staff entered the building this morning, they were greeted with a personalized, inspirational message and a bag of kisses hung on each doorway and locker. Their efforts are a great example of the impact that acts of kindness have on others, and that positivity is contagious. The Anonymous Angels have become a household name at Westmoreland Middle School, and we look forward to spreading a positive message with their spirit of kindness.
Congratulations to each of the eight students who were awarded with the, "Student of the Month" certificate this week for November! This has been a busy month filled with many great things, so we are a bit delayed with sharing these awards. We are proud to have such a wonderful community here at Westmoreland Middle School, and are thrilled to recognize each of these students. We also want to highlight students who were recognized with "EPIC Awards" for showing Empathy, Pride, Innovation, and Collaboration in our learning community. This month's students include:

The Westmoreland Select Chorus literally stopped traffic at the Wonderland of Lights at the Masonic Home last night because of their tremendous holiday spirit. The one-hour caroling event was the first of its kind at the Wonderland of Lights, and I hope that each musician is beaming with pride after their performance. We hope to see them back again next year!
If you weren't able to hear them last night, check this out (please excuse the darkness and wind)!
Check out what some of our eighth graders did to surprise all of their teachers! What a great way to show others what EPIC is all about!
Middle School Student Council filled their Holiday tree again this year. The students and staff were more than generous with bringing in mittens, gloves, hats and scarves. All of the items went to our local Kiwanis Club. A huge thank you goes out to all who helped make this such a great success! -Written by Mrs. Usyk, Student Council Advisor
It was a morning filled with creating new connections! Last Friday marked the first "Westmoreland Middle School EPIC Day," where students and staff focused on building new connections. The morning kicked off with our staff sharing something that the students may not know about them as a way to spark a new connection. Some shared their interest in travel and baking, while others talked about their personal mottos and families. Students then spent the morning working with the advisory teams creating a personal coat of arms to share their story with others, and participated in a grade-level "line game" to see who might share the same interests. The goal for the day was to build a new connection with one person, and from the excitement that echoed through the hallways, this goal was met with huge success.
Our halls will soon be decorated with these extraordinary coats of arms as a constant reminder that we each have a story, and that we each have something great share with one another. Be sure to check them out when you're in for a visit!
Our fifth and sixth grade chorus have much to be proud of after a series of phenomenal performances in the Nutcracker. Not only did their musical talents contribute to an already wonderful production, but audience members were able to enjoy some holiday songs during intermission as well. I know I speak for Mrs. Davis, WMS staff members, and parents when I say that we are beyond impressed and proud of our students for their dedication, hard work, and commitment to a great performance. We look forward to hearing you sing again this Wednesday, December 9th at your concert in the high school at 7pm.
