Today marked the last day of clubs for the semester, and students are preparing to choose another for the remainder of the year. The sewing club celebrated their last day, with Mrs. Dlugsoz as their advisor, by showing off their oven mitt creations. Each was hand-sewn by students, and truly one of a kind!
Westmoreland seventh graders are innovators and thinkers. They are problem solvers and they are leaders. Over the last few weeks, in reflection to growing organizational needs, students teamed up to solve this problem. After brainstorming, prioritizing, and discussing, they developed a solution to this growing concern, and submitted formal proposals requesting permission to implement their plan. With the help of the seventh grade teachers, students relocated their lockers, and developed a system where every pair of students would share three lockers. Their rationale was simple and smart-by giving them more space, they can dedicate specific areas for specific materials. This morning was the official "moving day" for their lockers, and proof that necessity is the mother of invention.
