"QR codes are similar to the barcodes that are used in grocery stores and department stores. Fifth grade students in Mr. Cichon's Library Media class used iPads and the QR codes to learn library vocabulary.
The students had to walk around the hallway and find the individually numbered cards, 1-10 and then using the QR code reader, students had to find the vocabulary word that was associated with that number. Then students wrote the word on their worksheet. Once they had all ten words they had to now look for the lettered cards and again using the QR code reader they had to match the definition to the word on the worksheet. The letters also corresponded to the spelling of Dumbledore, one of the main characters from the Harry Potter Series. On the bottom of the worksheet students had to answer the question: “Who was Dumbledore’s number one enemy?”
This activity was a fun and active way to learn library vocabulary."
